Kombucha is made using a mixture of tea, sugar and a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast) that was created over two thousand years ago in China. The fermentation process produces a range of probiotics that promote healthy digestion and an overall healthy gut. Kombucha is a tart, naturally bubbly drink that you can drink both cold or hot (yup!). It is a good replacement for sodas which usually contain high amounts of sugar. And it happens to be good for you too. Although one of the main ingredients, finished kombucha contains very small amounts of sugar!
